Opening our 46th season of Doheny Soirées, "one of the most sensitive and intelligent piano trios in the world today" (New York Times) will gather beneath the mansion's gold Tiffany dome to offer "expressive and exhilarating interpretations" (Musical America) of two monumental trios — Beethoven’s haunting "Ghost" Trio (in D, Op. 70, No. 1) and Mendelssohn’s beloved Piano Trio No. 1 (in d, Op. 49) — along with Stanley Silverman’s wildly eclectic Reveille (Piano Trio No. 2). After participating in one of KLR's Reveille performances, Sting declared them "rock 'n' rollers" (ConcertoNet.com). “Can we just be done with it and call [them] the greatest piano trio on the face of the Earth?” (Washington Post).
Join us for dinner after the concert, optional purchase. Details announced in September.
The Doheny Soireés Series is cosponsored by Barbara Jury and J.H.B. Kean & Toby E. Mayman.
