Van Dekker House Woodland Hills Rudolph Schindler (1939)
Mak Grgic, guitar
This largest of Schindler-designed homes boasts 3,746 square feet, a magnificent copper sheath roof, steeply pitched ceilings, and an abundance of windows which fill the home with natural light, while blurring the lines between interior and exterior space. This beautifully restored "hidden gem" serves as the backdrop for “Mr. Grgic’s imaginative, expressive playing” (New York Times) — from Bach and Scarlatti, to contemporary works of Eastern Europe and beyond.
Schindler Festival: Explore and learn more about early-modernist master and visionary Rudolph Schindler, whose architectural designs left a lasting impact on Southern California and beyond. Ancillary events and tours announced in June.
The Schindler Festival is sponsored by the MaddocksBrown Foundation.
Sally and Irwin Goldstein are cosponsors of the Premium Series.
Please note: This concert was moved from the previously scheduled location of the Schindler designed Fitzpatrick-Leland House in Laurel Canyon, to the Schindler-designed Van Dekker House in Woodland Hills. Concert times remain the same. Tickets are still available to the 7:00 PM concert.
