Profeti della Quinta

“Il Montovano Hebreo: Music by Salomone Rossi (1570-1630)”

This magnificent, newly renovated mid-Wilshire landmark welcomes the Southern California debut of a brilliant Israeli vocal ensemble celebrated for their “beautifully pure vocal tone and intonation” (Early Music Review). Profeti della Quinta specialize in the music of the great 17th-century Jewish master Salomone Rossi, who composed amorous Italian madrigals as well as setting Hebrew to create vocal music appropriate for worship in temples and synagogues. Rossi belonged to two worlds: to the sumptuous court of the ducal Gonzaga family and to the synagogues of his faith. Hear Profeti della Quinta perform this stunning music amidst the majestic Byzantine Revival splendor of Wilshire Boulevard Temple!

Profeti della Quinta are featured in a 45-minute documentary about the life and times of composer Salomone Rossi. Arrive early to view “Hebreo: The Search for Salomone Rossi” at 6:00 & 7:00 in Wilshire Boulevard Temple's Piness Auditorium. “…one of the best music documentaries I’ve seen” (Early Music Today).
