JACK Quartet with Mak Grgic, guitar

An historic craftsman-style clubhouse showcases contemporary American chamber music performed by a young cutting-edge ensemble known for "powerhouse playing" (Chicago Sun-Times) and "viscerally exciting performances" (New York Times). JACK will infuse a "bandlike mentality and a funky, contemporary vibe" (Washington Post) to the West Coast Debut of Caleb Burhans’ exquisitely translucent Contritus (2009), Michael Harrison's ravishingly beautiful Chant (2011), Greg Spears' Buttonwood (2010) and the World Premiere of As the Crow Flies, a new commission by composer David Crowell for guitar and string quartet that will feature the phenomenal young guitarist, Mak Grgic. JACK is "mind-blowingly good" (Los Angeles Times) – "perhaps the single most intrepidly experimental quartet on the horizon" (Philadelphia Inquirer).

Eagle Rock Festival: An afternoon celebrating contemporary American chamber music awaits you in “L.A.’s hometown” — including the opportunity to attend two Chamber Music in Historic Sites concerts (purchased separately or as a 2 concert series). Explore this unique and vibrant pocket of L.A. — concerts with 3 World Premieres, receptions, wine tastings, historic photo exhibits and walking tours — all this when The Da Camera Society lands in Eagle Rock! All concerts ca. 70 minutes each. Festival packet, with tours and schedule of activities, mailed prior to the concert.

This concert and festival are made possible in part by a generous grant from the Kenneth T. and Eileen L. Norris Foundation.

This concert is sponsored by Eric & Nancy Garen.
