Bringing our season of Doheny Soirées to an appropriately brilliant close, a young Israeli quartet described by The Guardian as “a force to be reckoned with” performs a program of quartets by Haydn (in C, “Emperor”), Erwin Schulhoff and Brahms (in c, Op. 51/1). “The Aviv Quartet … is the most
exciting ensemble that I have heard for some time” (Classical MusicWeb). Prize-winners in numerous international competitions, notably Grand Prix and four special prizes at the Third International Melbourne Chamber Music Competition, the quartet has performed throughout the world with “a natural, collective boldness … that never [seeks] to trumpet itself ” (The Strad). Amid the Pompeian Room’s mix of marble, gold and glass, a not-to-be-missed season finale!
