 Calefax Reed Quintet

A stately manor, more than four acres of lavish gardens, breathtaking vistas of the Arroyo Seco and the San Gabriel Mountains, and an “electrifying performance” (The Daily Telegraph) by the Calefax Wind Quintet—what could be a more ideal Mother’s Day celebration? With playing “so overwhelmingly brilliant that sometimes one does not believe one’s ears” (Het Parool) Calefax honors women and motherhood with a special program featuring music by Rameau (La Villageoise), Debussy (The girl with the flaxen hair), Duke Ellington (Sophisticated Lady) —performed on the estate's arcade and loggia, overlooking the arroyo. “Their sound is extraordinary, and their performance is superb, an act of love backed up by technique, taste and enthusiasm” (Chamber Music).
Light artists reception.
