 Talich Quartet

“Interpreters of rare understanding and communicative flair” (The Strad), the masterful Prague-based Talich Quartet opens the second season of our cycle of the complete quartets of Beethoven. In a classical-inspired ballroom complete with richly ornamented coffered ceiling, opulent gilding and dramatic two-story windows overlooking the plaza below, the quartet performs an early quartet (Op. 18/4 in c) and a monumental late quartet (Op. 130 in B-flat). "... there's an explosive directness here that's breathtaking, often exhilarating, matched by a sweetness of tone that can be utterly disarming" (Radio 3 Disc of the Week).
